Chairmanship aspirant for Ovia South-West Local Government area of Edo state, Amb. Robinson Aigbedion, has urged Nigerians to see the country’s 65th Independence anniversary as both a moment of reflection and a call to renewed commitment to nation-building.
In his Independence Day message, Aigbedion described October 1 as a historic reminder of Nigeria’s resilience, unity, and unbroken spirit, noting that despite challenges, the nation has continued to stand tall through the courage and determination of its people.
“For us in Ovia South-West, this day is not only a time for reflection but also a renewed call to action to build a community where opportunities abound, governance is people-centered, and development touches every life,” he said.
He emphasized the central role of the youth as “the heartbeat of the nation,” while praising mothers as “pillars of love, care, and sacrifice,” and fathers as “the foundation of strength, guidance, and wisdom.” According to him, the balance of these forces remains key to sustaining a thriving society.
Reaffirming his commitment to transparent, inclusive, and visionary leadership, Aigbedion pledged to work with all stakeholders to drive growth and ensure that Ovia South-West contributes meaningfully to Nigeria’s progress.
“Happy Independence Day! Long live Ovia South-West! Long live Edo State! Long live Nigeria!” he declared.
