Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has expressed confidence in the All Progressives Congress (APC) securing victory in the state’s 2027 elections, declaring that the party has built a strong grassroots structure across the state.
Okpebholo spoke on Tuesday during an APC mobilisation rally in Ologbo Wards 9 and 10 of Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, where he formally presented the party’s candidates for the 2027 general elections.
The Governor unveiled former House of Representatives member, Ogbeide Ihama, as the APC’s candidate for the Senate; Felix Igbinovia for the House of Representatives; and Clement Ikponmwonsa for the Edo State House of Assembly.
He charged party members and supporters to remain united and committed to the APC’s programmes, urging them to mobilise effectively at the grassroots to secure victory for the party’s candidates.
Okpebholo thanked the people of Edo State for their support for his administration, assuring them that his government would remain focused on delivering development across the state.
He also commended residents for turning out in large numbers for the rally despite the rainfall, and prayed for God’s continued blessings upon them.
Speaking at the event, Edo State APC Chairman, Jarrett Tenebe, said the party was targeting 2.5 million votes for President Bola Tinubu in Edo State in the 2027 presidential election.
Tenebe said the party had commenced a state-wide mobilisation programme across the 18 local government areas, urging members to work collectively towards achieving its electoral objectives.
He said the Governor and his deputy had continued to engage communities and party members as part of efforts to strengthen the APC’s grassroots structure ahead of the elections.
Similarly, APC Chairman in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, Sunny Ogbewe, said the Governor’s visit had boosted the morale of party members in the area.
Ogbewe described Ikpoba-Okha as one of the local government areas with a large number of registered voters, assuring that the party would intensify mobilisation to secure substantial support for the APC.
He commended Governor Okpebholo for projects and interventions in the area, saying the party would reciprocate by working towards achieving its electoral targets.
Ogbewe also praised the Chairman of Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Council for supporting the administration’s development agenda.
The rally formed part of the APC’s ongoing grassroots mobilisation across Edo State ahead of the 2027 general elections.
