Senator Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate in the upcoming September Edo State governorship election, has revealed an ambitious agriculture program aimed at bolstering food security in the state while positioning it as a significant contributor to the national and international export markets.

The cornerstone of Senator Okpebholo’s agricultural initiative as he explicated in live telecast is a comprehensive strategy to promote mechanized farming. Recognizing the importance of modern techniques in increasing agricultural productivity, the program emphasizes the provision of loans and modern farming equipment, including tractors for plowing, planting, weed control, and harvesting.

In a live telecast with an online media, , Senator Okpebholo outlined his vision for the agriculture sector in Edo State, emphasizing the critical role it plays in ensuring food sufficiency and economic prosperity.

“Our objective is clear: to ensure that every citizen of Edo State has access to nutritious food while harnessing the potential of our agricultural sector to contribute significantly to the nation’s food supply and export market,” he stated.

Central to the program is the involvement of various stakeholders, including existing farmers, graduates of Agricultural Science, and enthusiastic youths eager to embrace farming as a viable livelihood. By bringing together these diverse groups, Senator Okpebholo aims to create a dynamic and inclusive agricultural ecosystem capable of driving sustainable growth and development.

“We understand the importance of collaboration and partnership in achieving our goals,” Senator Okpebholo remarked. “By leveraging the knowledge and expertise of seasoned farmers, the enthusiasm of young agricultural graduates, and the energy of our youth population, we can revolutionize the agriculture sector in Edo State.”

The program will provide training and capacity-building opportunities to equip participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in modern farming practices. Additionally, the provision of loans and access to modern farming equipment will alleviate the financial barriers often faced by aspiring farmers, enabling them to maximize their productivity and contribute to the overall success of the sector.

“We are committed to empowering our farmers and equipping them with the tools they need to succeed,” Senator Okpebholo affirmed. “Through strategic investments and targeted interventions, we can transform Edo State into a hub of agricultural excellence, capable of meeting both domestic demand and international export requirements.”

Furthermore, Senator Okpebholo emphasized the importance of sustainability and environmental stewardship in the implementation of the program. “As we strive to increase agricultural productivity, we must also prioritize environmental conservation and adopt practices that safeguard our natural resources for future generations,” he explained.

The agriculture program proposed by Senator Monday Okpebholo represents a bold and forward-thinking approach to addressing the challenges facing the sector in Edo State. With its focus on mechanized farming, stakeholder engagement, and capacity-building initiatives, the program has the potential to significantly enhance food security, stimulate economic growth, and position Edo State as a leader in agricultural innovation and production.

As the September governorship election approaches, all eyes will be on Senator Okpebholo and his vision for transforming the agriculture sector in Edo State. With widespread support and commitment from stakeholders across the state, his ambitious program holds the promise of a brighter and more prosperous future for farmers and citizens alike.
