Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his “bold and visionary” economic reforms, describing them as the driving force behind Nigeria’s ongoing transformation and Edo State’s rapid development.
Speaking during the City Boy Movement empowerment program in Benin City, where over 200 Edo youths received support, Governor Okpebholo said Tinubu’s policies have provided states with the resources needed for meaningful projects, including ongoing flyovers and infrastructure works across Edo.
“These projects are made possible through the support of President Tinubu,” Okpebholo said. “I urge all Edo people to continue supporting the President. His reforms, though tough, are essential for Nigeria’s long-term progress.”
The Governor highlighted that his administration is delivering real change across Edo’s three senatorial districts, citing major strides in education. “The previous government claimed to have transformed education, but our findings show otherwise. We are changing the narrative, enrollment is rising, and we are upgrading schools so that Edo children can compete globally,” he noted.
Edo State Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, urged youths to rally behind the City Boy Movement to ensure Edo delivers the highest votes for President Tinubu in the South-South in the next election. “With Governor Okpebholo’s performance, opposition in Edo will soon be history,” Idahosa declared.
Minister of Youth Development, Hon. Ayodele Olawande, lauded Okpebholo’s achievements, calling the event a celebration of peace and progress. “The progress we see today began with the emergence of a dynamic governor committed to development,” he said, emphasizing that youths remain central to both state and national agendas.
Edo Commissioner for Education and State Director of the City Boy Movement, Paddy Iyamu, applauded Tinubu for introducing the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND), ensuring that “no Edo child drops out of school due to financial hardship.” He outlined Okpebholo’s first-year achievements — 68 new schools, ₦1 billion in student bursaries, scholarships to China, and empowerment programs for women and small businesses.
Director-General of the City Boy Movement, Francis Oluwatosin, described Okpebholo as a “visionary and silent achiever,” commending progress in education, healthcare, and infrastructure. He reaffirmed the group’s commitment to mobilizing 10 million votes nationwide for President Tinubu in 2027.
