Edo Citizen Congratulates “Graduates” of Obaseki’s Nonexistent University

Once hailed as Mr. Wake ‘N See, Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State promised the citizens a Malaysian University of Innovations to rival the best in the world six years ago.

With sweet-mouthed speeches and lofty promises, he envisioned a future where Edo’s youth would lead the charge in technological advancements, building castles in the air!

However, as time passed, it became increasingly evident that Obaseki’s dream was nothing more than a mirage in the desert of broken promises for the past seven and a half years, with Mr. Asue Ighodalo as his Chief Economic Adviser.

This morning, amidst the disillusionment and frustration of the people, Dr. Egie Eweka took to social media to unleash a wave of biting sarcasm.

With a smirk on his face and a twinkle of ‘mischief’ in his eye, Dr. Eweka congratulated all the graduates of Obaseki’s prestigious Malaysian University of Innovations. The irony was palpable, as there were no graduates, no university, and not even a hint of progress towards the ‘lofty’ goal.

Obaseki and Asue have led a state where dreams have been shattered and hopes dashed – I am sure this prompted Dr. Eweka’s sardonic congratulations.

This, therefore, must be seen as a bitter reminder of the governor’s failure to deliver on his promises and why Asue cannot be trusted to lead the people.

According to the academic egghead, “Yeye people,” he muttered under his breath, shaking his head in disbelief at the absurdity of it all.

This mocking laughter of Dr. Eweka was heard by all – in fact, Steven Adepoju copied and shared it on his Facebook page – a poignant reminder of the price of empty promises and why his godson, Asue Ighodalo, won’t be spared in the punishment of the sins of his godfather come September 21st, 2024.
