Moment Assaulted Prisons Squadron Commander Leaves Court Without Emefiele, After DSS Attack [VIDEO]

Nigeria Correctional Services, NCS, officials have finally bowed to the Department of State Service, DSS, over the custody of the suspended former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Godwin Emefiele.

The Federal High Court in Lagos had earlier granted Emefiele bail after he was arraigned for illegal firearms possession but the DSS refused to allow Prison officials to take custody of him as ordered by the court.

A free-for-all fight ensued between officials of the two agencies with a senior-ranking prisons official seriously beaten.

Moments after the fight, a senior female DSS official arrived at the court and had a brief chat with prison officials who later vacated the court.

Attempted to speak to the senior prisons official who was beaten but he refused to speak on the matter.

Justice Nicholas Oweibo had granted the suspended CBN governor N20 million bail.

The bail condition includes producing a surety with landed property within the jurisdiction of the court in Ikoyi, Lagos, depositing his passport and also producing a Civil servant not below level 16 to perfect bail.

The judge had ordered that Emefiele should be remanded in prison pending the fulfilment of his bail conditions.

But rather than release the top bank chief to prison officials, the DSS attempted to take him away, a move that was resisted.

During the disagreement, the uniform of a prison official was torn, revealing the singlet underneath.

The DSS operatives who were well armed outnumbered the prison officials.
