Obaseki’s Ex-Commissioner Adaze Emwanta Ouits PDP, Set To Join Labour Party [Details]

Former Edo State Commissioner of Communication and Orientation under Governor Godwin Obaseki, Adaze Andrew Emwanta, has officially resigned from the People’s Democratic Party, PDP.

In a letter dated June 14, 2023 addressed to the Chairman of PDP Egor Local Government Area in Edo State, the former Commissioner and PDP Chieftain stated that he’s quitting due to the perennial crisis rocking the party in his local government area as well as the “visible underdevelopment of our once great local area (from Uwelu to Evbuotubu)”.

According to Emwanta, the crisis rocking the party in the LGA “is being orchestrated by external forces, particularly those in Osadebe Avenue.”

He noted that during the party’s last caucus meeting in the LGA, he volunteered to sacrifice his Commissioner position for the peace to reign in the area.

“Sadly, things have become worse with the imposition of a local Godfather on us and this is not acceptable to me,” Emwanta quipped.

Adding, “arising from the foregoing, I also wish to withdraw my application letter to serve as the Commissioner representing Egor in the State Exco earlier submitted…”.

Emwanta first served as Commissioner of Communication and Orientation but was later moved to Ministry of Youth and Gender Affairs when Governor Obaseki reshuffled the Exco.

Infopowerng gathered that the ex-commissioner is heading to Labour Party. The source said “Emwanta is likely to be Kenneth Imansuagbon (Rice man)‘s Director General”

Imansuagbon recently defected to the Labour Party ahead of Edo 2024 Governorship race.
