A source within the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has claimed that the party cannot sanction the Rivers state Governor, Nyesom Wike, over any anti-party activities due to some obvious reasons.
Speaking recently on the lingering disagreement between the Rivers State Governor’s camp and that of the PDP Presidential Candidate, Atiku Abubakar, the source argued that Wike and his loyalists could fight back, destabilize the party if PDP decided to sanction or expel him from the party.
In the source’s words; “The party cannot sanction him (Wike). It will get to a point where Wike will pull out of the party or act as a spoiler. If he acts as a spoiler, the party will have no grounds to sanction him and if the party decides to expel him, it is looking for more trouble because some of his loyalists will resist the move … Wike needs only two or three NWC members to pass a vote of no confidence on Ayu. He can destabilize the party”.
Notably, the source predicted that the Governor might use the same tactics he used to remove former Chairman, Uche Secondus; by inducing his loyalists within the PDP NWC to resign; to oust Ayu and cause the party some serious problems, should the leadership decide to use sanctions.
