An aspirant to contest election into the House of Representatives to represent the people of Egor/Ikpoba-Okha, Matthew Umweni yesterday said his calmness and accessibility to all puts him ahead of other aspirants to get the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2023 election.
He stated this when he officially declared his intention in Ward 7, Ikpoba-Okha secretariat of the party and was received by the executives and leaders of the ward.
Umweni promised his unalloyed loyalty and assured the party members that he would not disappoint or betray their trust in him. He pleaded that his endorsement should be extended to the other wards claiming to be the best man for the job.
He said: “I am calm and gentle, I am unassuming and accessible always and live amongst you here in Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area so you don’t need to travel to see me anytime. I am one of you and I share the vision of our people and the party to ensure that the lives of our people are better.”
The chairman of the ward, John Agho who official presented the aspirant to the people called for support for his aspiration while leader of the ward, Chief Victor Ekhator admonished the party members to remain steadfast and be committed to the ideals of the Party and Ward 7 in particular adding that the APC was ready to “take back our rightful position in the politics of Edo State.”
Ekhator advised the aspirant to keep faith with the party and believe that the ward would be there to assist him in his campaign across the entire Local Government Area and the Federal Constituency. He advised him to ensure he kept his promises to the people if he gets the ticket and wins the election.
Leaders and 19 out of 26 Ward Executives signed to endorse Matthew Umweni for the House of Representatives Egor/Ikpoba Okha Federal Constituency.
