The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Thursday called for the immediate prosecution of sacked Managing Director of the Nigeria Ports Authority (NPA), Hadiza Bala Usman, over exposed looting of over N165 billion in the agency.

The opposition party asked that (EFCC) immediately brings in Bala Usman for questioning.

PDP also demanded the anti-graft agency to extend its searchlight on the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi, under whose ministerial watch the alleged looting in NPA was executed.

In early May, President Muhammadu Buhari suspended Bala Usman to allow an investigation into the allegations.

Nigeria’s main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has called for the immediate punishment of Hadiza Bala Usman, chairman of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), who was “sacked for embezzling N165 billion from the commission.”

In a statement issued by the party’s national information secretary Kola Ologbondiyan, the party said its dismissal should not be taken lightly.

“Bala Usman must be prosecuted for allegedly embezzling funds, as the chief accountant’s office has found to have been stolen,” he said.

“The PDP calls on the EFCC to immediately arrest Bala Usman for questioning on these allegations, including the alleged embezzlement of N15.18 billion.”

The party has also asked the EFCC to investigate Transport Minister Rotimi Ameachi under whose ministry “the theft took place,” according to the PDP.

“The PDP, along with Nigerians, will continue to monitor the affairs of the Buhari administration and will not condone any attempt by the APC to cover up the matter.

President Muhammadu Buhari suspended Hadiza Bala Usman early May to allow an investigation into the allegations.for embezzling N165 billion from the commission.”

Bala Usman has reportedly denied wrongdoing while chairing the commission.
