Tinubu 2027: Governor Okpebholo Rallies United Edo APC, Leads Mass Endorsement

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, on Friday led a formidable coalition of All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders to formally endorse President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for re-election in 2027.

The grand event, held in Edo Central, drew an impressive lineup of political heavyweights including Deputy Governor Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, former Governor Senator Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole, and Hon. Abubakar Momoh, Minister for Regional Development.

The gathering also witnessed a major political realignment as prominent figures from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP) officially defected to the APC, signaling renewed unity and momentum for the ruling party ahead of the next general elections.

Among the dignitaries present were the Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Blessing Agbebaku; former Deputy Governor Chief Pius Odubu; Senator Mathew Urhoghide; Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu; APC State Chairman, Emperor Jarret Tenebe; and Retired General Cecil Isegaigbe, leader of the Edo Central senatorial district.

In his address, Governor Okpebholo expressed gratitude to President Tinubu for his continued support to Edo State, particularly in the area of infrastructure.

“I want to thank Mr. President for what he’s doing for Edo people. We will let him know that we are for him completely here,” Okpebholo declared.

He revealed that following his discussions in Abuja, the Agbor Road project and several others had received presidential approval.

“In a few weeks, you’ll see caterpillars working on this road. The President won’t need to campaign here, we’ve already done that for him,” the governor added.

Former Governor Adams Oshiomhole lauded both President Tinubu and Governor Okpebholo for promoting financial prudence and development.

“The governor is executing projects without borrowing, that’s leadership. And with a good driver like President Tinubu, you don’t change him mid-journey,” Oshiomhole remarked.

Minister Abubakar Momoh described Tinubu’s administration as one that has “introduced the most far-reaching reforms in Nigeria’s history,” asserting that these policies are laying the groundwork for long-term national growth.

A highlight of the event came when Retired General Cecil Isegaigbe moved the motion to formally adopt President Tinubu as the APC’s preferred presidential candidate for 2027. The motion, seconded by Senator Joe Ikpea and unanimously supported by Oshiomhole and other leaders, sealed the endorsement.

To strengthen grassroots mobilization, four campaign buses were donated to coordinators from Edo North, Central, and South.

New entrants from the PDP and LP — including Hon. Emmanuel Okoduwa, Hon. Patrick Iluobe, Mr. Ehime Edangbe, and Hon. Anthony Iselobho  pledged total loyalty to the APC and vowed to work tirelessly for Tinubu’s re-election.

With the Friday endorsement, Governor Okpebholo has cemented Edo APC as a united, energized front solidly behind President Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid a show of strength that may redefine Edo’s political landscape in the coming years.
