The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, has been thrown into mourning following the sudden demise of one of its dedicated members, Mr. Austin Adibe Emeyonu, the State Correspondent of THISDAY Newspapers.
In a statement jointly signed by the Council’s Chairman, Dr. Festus Alenkhe, and Secretary, Mr. Andy Egbon, the NUJ announced that Mr. Emeyonu passed away on the night of Friday, October 17, 2025.
Shock and disbelief trail his passing, as colleagues recall that Adibe Emeyonu was vibrant and full of life earlier that day, seen engaging freely with fellow journalists at the Press Centre, Benin City.
The NUJ described his death as a painful loss to the journalism family in Edo State and the nation at large.
