Mr Sunday Osazamwenda, an aspirant for the Ovia federal constituency bye-election, says he has aligned himself with the choice of the leadership of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the poll.
Osazamwenda noted that he remained a loyal party man irrespective of the candidate put forward for the bye-election, said he would discharge his duty to ensure that the APC emerged victorious.
In a statement personally signed by him, the aspirant said he believed that the party’s candidate, Omosede Igbinedion, would deliver the dividends of democracy to the Ovia federal constituency.
He urged his supporters across the two local governments that made up the Ovia federal constituency to support Igbinedion.
According to him, “having consulted widely with my supporters, do hereby solidly align myself with the decision of Ovia federal constituency leaders and party members on the sole candidature of Hon omosede Igbinedion.
This decision of Ovia party leadership led by Rt Hon Dennis Idahosa and members aimed at promoting unity, stability and ensuring victory must be supported by all.
“I call on other aspirants to join as it may be we tomorrow.
“Let us all commence immediately the campaign that will ensure a resounding victory for our candidate, Hon omosede Igbinedion.”
It would be recalled that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had fixed August 16 for bye-elections in two senatorial districts, five federal and nine state constituencies.
In Edo state, bye-elections would be conducted in one federal constituency and one senatorial district.
The Ovia federal constituency and Edo central senatorial district became vacant with the election of Sen. Monday and Dennis Idahosa as governor and deputy governor of Edo state, respectively.
While Okpebholo was the senator representing central senatorial district of the state, Idahosa was the representative of the Ovia federal constituency in the Green chamber.
