Ahead of the September 21, Edo governorship elections, National Woman Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Mary Alile, Wife of the Deputy Governorship Candidate Amb. Osaretin Idahosa have solicited the support of women in Edo Central senatorial district to support the governorship candidate of the party and his deputy.
They stated this at a women empowerment program in Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area of the senatorial district.
The event saw hundreds of women empowered with sowing machines, grinding machines among others.
The empowerment program was organised by National Agenda For Greater Asiwaju (NAGA) in conjunction with the office of the national woman leader of the APC.
Speaking during the event, Amb. Osaretin Idahosa urged women to go from house to house and preach the gospel of Senator Monday Okpebholo and Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa.
She noted that the duos have impacted their people both as private citizens and legislators, adding that when given the opportunity to serve the state, they will do more and even better.
She said, “Monday Okpebholo popularly known as Mr. Development is an empathetic leader who has made impact in the lives of both women and youths in his private capacity before he became a senator and still doing it in his legislative capacity
“What we need is a leader who cares for the people and that is what Sen. Monday Okpebholo stands for.”
On her part, The national leader, Dr. Mary Alile harped on the importance of empowering women, which according to her, is a recipe for building the family and laying a solid foundation for a viable society.
She advanced reasons why women must all come out en masse to canvas, support and vote for the APC come September 21.
