I think the most beautiful and powerful politician to have emerged from Edo state remains Oshiomhole. Just few weeks ago, he was considered dead politically by those in the corridor of power in the state.
They felt his ouster as the National Chairman of the APC and the subsequent loss of the state by his party in 2020 have buried him politically.
Today, it amazes me to see and hear that everything about the state is centered around the same man that was considered a retired politician. The mere mention of his name reverberate fears in Dennis Osadebe Avenue, the seat of Edo State Government.
The former Labour leader just won a Senate election by defeating the Deputy Governor of the State in his polling unit, ward, local government and the Senatorial district.
It would interest you to know that the same Deputy Governor who claimed to be responsible for assisting Oshiomhole to his elections in the past failed to deliver his unit, ward and local government in the presidential election to his tattered umbrella PDP.
Oshiomhole victory didn’t end with him securing the Senate seat, he worked to assist his party (APC) to win all the available seats in the Senatorial district and also a Senate and a HoR seats in Edo Central.
Again, same man that have been considered dead politically have embarked on campaign for his party in the House of Assembly elections in Edo South. The beautiful thing out of his campaign in the South is the reception he receives from the streets of Benin and environs, a reception that is not accorded a seating Governor of the state.
Indeed, Oshiomhole’s good deed as a governor and his humility have endeared him to the people of the state.
Oshioquake, Oshiojinger, Oshiobaba as he is popularly called by the people, is one whose style of leadership should be emulated by anyone who wishes to go far in politics.
