Traditional rulers in Yala Local Government Area of Cross River have expressed disappointment with the state of affairs in the state.
The traditional rulers made this known while playing host to the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River, Sen. Sandy Onor, whose campaign team belted in the council area.
They noted that there was no use pretending that things were okay in Cross River while the opposite was the case.
The pointed out that aside the obvious neglect of the tradional rulers, all the promises made to develop the state have turned out to be false.
The head of the traditional rulers in the council area, Amb. Onah Ipule who spoke on their behalf, said the wished for the era of Donald Duke and Liyel Imoke.
He praised Duke for his tourism drive and achievements when he was governor of the state.
“But people who don’t want anything good for us said we should move backward.
“We woukd move forward again with Duke and his people that have come to see us today. They will definitely move us to national limelight again.
While assuring that the PDP candidate would get their support, he however said he must work on their road and take care of their welfare when elected.
Earlier in his remark, Onor bemoaned that the state is stagnated in terms of development.
“We come here with renewed hope that things would get better. We came with a commitment that we would do well for the generality of our people.
“So we shall tell you the truth always. We would show respect for our people. We are experienced enough to give you quality leadership because I understand the way government functions” he stated.
