Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has inaugurated four government boards and committees, charging members to place the interest of the people above personal considerations and discharge their responsibilities with integrity, humility and dedication.
The inaugurated bodies are the Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, Consumer Protection Committee and the Edo State Rural Access Roads Agency (RARA).
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony held at the Government House in Benin City, Governor Okpebholo congratulated the appointees, reminding them that their appointments represented a solemn responsibility to the people of Edo State and before God.
“I wish to remind you that this is not merely a responsibility to the people; it is also a responsibility before God,” the governor said.
Okpebholo urged the members to work in unity and ensure that their decisions and actions translate into meaningful results and lasting positive impact across the state.
He said, “I therefore urge you to work together in unity, placing the interests of the people above personal considerations. May your decisions and actions produce meaningful results and create a lasting positive impact.”
The governor further prayed for wisdom, strength and grace for the appointees to successfully fulfil the mandates entrusted to them.
Responding on behalf of the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, its Chairman, Very Rev. Fr. Alfred Aronegbe Agbonlahor, expressed appreciation to the governor for the confidence reposed in the members, assuring that the board would work diligently to promote the interests and welfare of Christian pilgrims in Edo.
Similarly, Chairman of the Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, Mallam Musa Muhammad Uduimoh, thanked Governor Okpebholo for the opportunity to serve and commended his administration for strengthening the management of pilgrimage affairs in the state.
Uduimoh assured that the board would support the government in delivering efficient, transparent and satisfactory services to intending pilgrims.
Chairman of the Consumer Protection Committee, Iyamu Osaro Destiny, also commended the governor for constituting the committee, pledging its commitment to protecting consumers while promoting fairness, accountability and responsible commercial practices across the state.
Momodu Oghenakhoghie Goodluck was inaugurated as Director-General of RARA, while members of the various boards and agencies, including the 28-member Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board and the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, formally assumed responsibility for their respective mandates.
The ceremony was attended by Deputy Governor, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa; Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Yakubu Musa; other government officials and dignitaries.
