Igiebor, Shaibu Take Charge as Okpebholo Tasks New Commission Chairmen on Service

Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has sworn in Ambassador Terry Igiebor as Chairman of the Edo State Ecological Funding and Management Commission, charging him and other newly inaugurated commission members to work diligently for the people.

Governor Okpebholo also swore in Prof. David Osifo as a member of the Ecological Funding and Management Commission, while Dr. Shittu Shaibu assumed office as Chairman of the Edo State Electricity Regulatory Commission, alongside Mr. Thomas Inegbedion, Abdulrask Abubakar, Alex Oniawu and Patrick Iluobe as members.

Speaking during the swearing-in ceremony at the Government House, Benin City, on Thursday, Governor Okpebholo congratulated the appointees, noting that their new responsibilities were enormous and would require dedication, teamwork and determination.

He particularly charged the electricity regulatory commission to work collectively towards transforming the state’s electricity sector and strengthening rural electrification.

“The task before you is enormous. It is going to be difficult, but with your determination, we can achieve whatever we want to achieve. If we work together and work hard, we can achieve whatever we want to achieve so that we can have a common goal in the electricity sector,” the governor said.

Okpebholo noted that several investors were showing interest in Edo, stressing that the establishment of sound policies and a conducive regulatory environment would be critical to attracting and sustaining investments in the electricity sector.

He urged the new commission chairmen and members to remain focused and dedicated to their responsibilities.

Responding on behalf of members of the Ecological Funding and Management Commission, Igiebor expressed appreciation to Governor Okpebholo for the confidence reposed in him and described his appointment as a rare privilege.

Igiebor assured the governor that the commission would deploy its expertise and commitment towards supporting the administration’s SHINE Agenda, promising that the team would work hard to deliver results that would make the governor proud at the end of their tenure.

Also speaking on behalf of the Edo State Electricity Regulatory Commission, Shaibu pledged the commitment of the commission to delivering on its mandate.

He said the appointments were based on merit and assured that the members would bring their wealth of experience at the national level to bear on the development of Edo’s electricity sector.

Shaibu expressed optimism that the commission would contribute significantly to making Edo “the shining star of Nigeria.”
