BREAKING: Benin Republic President Safe as Army Moves to Crush Attempted Coup

Benin Republic President Patrice Talon is “completely safe” and the national army is reclaiming control after a small group of soldiers claimed to have overthrown his government, the presidency told AFP on Sunday.

“This is a small group of people who only control the television,” the president’s office said. “The regular army is regaining control. The city and the country are completely secure.”

Earlier on Sunday, a faction of soldiers announced that they had removed President Talon from power and seized control of the state.
