Edo APC Youth Wing Slams Sahara Reporters Over ‘False’ Amagba Arson Report, Demands Retraction

The Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Youth Wing has strongly condemned a report by Sahara Reporters alleging that political thugs linked to the Edo State Government were responsible for the burning of the residence of Mr. Albert Obazee in Amagba community.

In a statement issued on behalf of the youth wing, its chairman, Comrade Ohio Omoh Odihiri, described the publication as false, misleading, and reckless, accusing the online news platform of spreading unverified claims capable of inciting public tension.

According to Odihiri, the report was particularly troubling for naming the Edo State APC Youth Leader, Comrade Tony Kabaka (Tony Adun), as one of those allegedly involved in the incident. He dismissed the claim as malicious and baseless, noting that Kabaka is currently outside the country in Europe for the festive season — a fact he said is easily verifiable.

“The attempt to link Comrade Tony Kabaka to this incident is nothing but deliberate misinformation and character assassination,” the statement read.

The APC Youth Wing consequently demanded an immediate public apology and a full retraction from Sahara Reporters, accusing the media outfit of misleading the public and dragging the Edo State Government and innocent party members into a criminal matter without credible evidence.

Reaffirming the stance of the state government, Odihiri stated that the administration of Governor Sen. Monday Okpebholo remains committed to peace, the rule of law, and the protection of lives and property across Edo State.

He stressed that the government’s priority is to reposition the state through good governance, inclusiveness, and sustainable development, not violence or lawlessness.

The youth leader also called on media organizations to uphold the principles of responsible journalism by verifying facts before publication, while urging residents of Edo State to remain calm and avoid being swayed by sensational or misleading reports.

“We call on law-abiding citizens to continue supporting this administration as we collectively work toward building a safer, better, and more prosperous Edo State,” the statement concluded.
