In a stunning political development that has sent ripples across the South East, Governor Peter Ndubuisi Mbah of Enugu State has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
The governor’s defection was sealed today with the symbolic presentation of the APC membership card, signaling what many describe as a new dawn in Enugu’s political landscape.
The brief but historic ceremony took place in Enugu, where representatives of the APC National Working Committee (NWC), led by Hon. Ibrahim Dalori, Deputy National Vice Chairman (North), formally welcomed Governor Mbah into the party’s fold.
Although the APC National Chairman, Prof. Yilwata Nentawe, was unable to attend in person due to official engagements in Abuja, he is expected to lead the main event upon his arrival in Enugu later today.
Political observers say Governor Mbah’s defection could reshape power dynamics in the South East, traditionally considered a stronghold of the PDP.
The move is already sparking conversations across the region about shifting allegiances and the evolving balance of power ahead of the next general elections.
