Hon. Amadin Enabulele, Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, has commended the team Edo for their consistency and resilience in the ongoing Niger Delta Sports Festival (NDSF) in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state.
Enabulele notes that with their performance thus far, Edo state remained a strong contender for the top spot at the maiden edition of the festival.
In a statement by his media officer, the chairman urged the team to continue to maintain the same discipline and hard work that have placed them as a contending team for the top position.
He also noted that team spirit and bonding of the 3,400 athletes is one that should be replicated by subsequent teams representing the state in any sporting events.
“This event has given yeam Edo the opportunity to build friendships, promote unity, and showcase their talents.
“The tournament will help the team address its weaknesses and build on the successes already achieved at this festival.
“Beyond winning medals, this event is an opportunity to build a formidable team for the upcoming National Sports Festival, scheduled for May in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
“As the festival winds up tomorrow, April 8, 2025, Team Edo’s performance continues to soar, with an increasing medal tally.
“In athletics, aquatics, para powerlifting, para athletics, boxing, football, discus, javelin, handball, and swimming, team Edo has maintained dominance,” he stated.
According to the statement, the state has presently won a total of 68 medals, comprising of 12 gold, 32 silver, and 24 bronze.
Meanwhile, in men’s football, team Edo defeated Rivers state 1-0 to advance.
