Edo: We Are Done With Lagos Cowboys, Economic Predators, Buccaneers — Kassim Afegbua

In an interview with TVC News, Kassim Afegbua, a prominent figure in the All Progressives Congress (APC), articulated a vision for Edo State under the incoming governor, Monday Okpebholo. He highlighted the campaign’s focus on distancing the state from external political influences, which he referred to as “Lagos cowboys.”

“Okpebholo will not bother himself dwelling so much on the state purse to enrich himself. He’s a humble, easygoing guy who has a heart for his people,” Afegbua stated, emphasizing that the governor-elect prioritizes public service over personal enrichment.

He elaborated on the campaign’s messaging, stating, “Part of the campaign we rolled out during the electioneering period was to inform Edo people that we were done with Lagos cowboys—those economic predators and buccaneers. Those who come to feast on the state and deal a blow to our collective patrimony.” This statement underscores the APC’s commitment to addressing external interference in the state’s governance.

Afegbua expressed satisfaction with the party’s ability to resonate with voters and earn their trust, indicating a successful campaign against those perceived as exploiting the state. He noted, “Having succeeded in defeating them in good measure, having taken the fight to the electorates and convinced them, the responsibility is now on us to look at the problems and find solutions that will be time-tested to confront those issues.”
