The members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Esan North East Local Government Areas of Edo have cried out against external influence attempting to deprived them of the benefits of their labour following the party’s victory in the recently concluded governorship election in the state.

The members who made the position known at a press statement, noted that some external forces were already out to circumvent the efforts of those that worked for the party’s victory.

The Esan North East chaper of the party particularly kick against the listing of Hon. Matthew Egbadon as a member of the transition committee.

Hon. Matthew Egbadon

According to the party, the mentioned name should not have been included since he worked against the party in the just concluded poll.

“This inclusion is not only unusual but is a blatant affront to the integrity of our party. It is clearly a calculated attempt to infiltrate our ranks and install individuals in key positions within the incoming administration.

“Let us be unequivocal: we will not tolerate intruders or opportunists attempting to hijack the internal workings of our party.

“Those who have not contributed to our success cannot be allowed to benefit from it.

While calling on the party to ensure only those that worked for the party victory benefits from their labour, it warned that decisive action will be taken against the “intruders.”

PRESS BRIEFING

Good afternoon, party leaders, executive members, gentlemen of the press, ladies, and gentlemen.

We are gathered here today to express our strong displeasure and protest the unwelcome interference by outsiders in the affairs of our party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Esan North East Local Government Area, Edo State.

As you may already know, a notable member of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Rt. Hon. Matthew Egbadon, who actively worked against our party during both the February 25th, 2023 general elections and the September 21st, 2024 Governorship election, has somehow found his name falsely included in our party’s transition committee list.

This inclusion is not only unusual but is a blatant affront to the integrity of our party. It is clearly a calculated attempt to infiltrate our ranks and install individuals in key positions within the incoming administration. Let us be unequivocal: we will not tolerate intruders or opportunists attempting to hijack the internal workings of our party. Those who have not contributed to our success cannot be allowed to benefit from it.

We have now identified those who sponsored this underhanded maneuver. We wish to send them a stern warning: for their own sake, they must cease these unholy attempts to meddle in our party’s affairs.

To be specific, gentlemen of the press, we have confirmed that a prominent business mogul from Ewatto, alongside a traditional ruler from Esan land, are behind the inappropriate inclusion of Rt. Hon. Matthew Egbadon on our transition committee list for their own selfish motives. We strongly condemn these actions and view them as an affront to the values of our party.

Let it be known that anyone who believes they can manipulate the internal workings of our party for personal gain will bear the full consequences of their actions. We hereby issue a clear warning: such interference, manipulation, and attempts to undermine the sanctity of our party will not be tolerated.

We advise these individuals to allow the Governor-elect to govern without undue interference and to let our party form a government without external meddling.

Finally, we admonish these intruders who inserted the name of Rt. Hon. Matthew Egbadon into our transition list to immediately disengage from our party’s affairs or face severe consequences. We stand ready to defend the integrity and core values of our party, and we will not hesitate to take whatever action is necessary to protect our mandate. On this, we are unanimous and resolute.

To be forewarned is to be forearmed—let the wise heed this message.

Thank you, gentlemen of the press.
