What Oba Of Benin Told Edo Governor-Elect, Monday Okpbebholo When He Visited The Palace

His Royal Majesty, The Oba of Benin, Ewuare II, has urged the Governor-elect of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, to honour his campaign promises to the people of the state.

This statement was made on Tuesday when Senator Monday Okpebholo and Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, his running mate, visited the monarch and presented their certificates of return.

The Oba gave thanks to God Almighty for the peaceful election process, saying, “We thank God Almighty for the peaceful election.” We are grateful that He heard our prayers. We still fast and pray for calm and peace throughout the state even now.

The esteemed ruler also used the occasion to express gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of Nigeria for organizing a smooth and successful election.

“I cannot end without thanking President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, for making sure that the election was peaceful,” he said.

“This palace is open to you at any time, whether it is 1 a.m. or 2 a.m.; you can come, and I will see you,” the Oba said as he welcomed Okpebholo to the palace.

The king had earlier been told by Senator Okpebholo that he and his running mate had come to the palace to present their certificates of return.

The Leader of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state Senator Adams Oshiomhole, Deputy Governor of Edo state, Comrade Philip Shaibu, Senator Matthew Urhoghide, former deputy governors Pius Odubu and Lucky Imasuen, APC state chairman Jarret Tenebe, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu were among the leaders who accompanied them.
