Spokesperson of Senator Monday Okpebholo Hon Paul Ohonbamu has assessed the almost eight years old PDP Edo state government led by Mr Godwin Obaseki and declared it a failure, for which a change is desperately needed.
He said, “Edo State has failed, the state is like a sinking ship on the high sea, rudderless with broken navigational aids and that is the situation we have found ourselves and this is an opportunity for us to recover the equilibrium with this coming election”
Ohonbamu said, “This is because as we speak, I can assure you that we are on a crossroad and the future is hanging precariously in the balance. The only candidate capable of turning the state around is Sen. Monday Okpebholo, who is a man who is due for the position of governor and is prepared for the position and knows why he is contesting.”
“Somebody who is free from scandal, a man of means with means of livelihood, somebody who does not believe in exploitation, somebody who is unskilled in licentiousness for evil, that is the kind of person we want now and you know politics in Edo state and even governance is highly infected and Monday Okpebholo is the only antibiotic that we have,” Ohonbamu said.
“The people of Edo have been “desecrated” and “neglected” by those in power and the upcoming election is an opportunity for the ordinary people to sow the magnitude of their littleness in their ballot by punishing those who have done wrong.”
“There is punishment for the governor who has not done well and that punishment is like every action goes with repercussions and it must go down to the third and fourth generation, the third generation will be the PDP candidate,” Ohonbamu said referring to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate in the election.
Edo State he added deserves a new government, one that is not just a “viscous circle” of the same old faces, but a genuine change that will address the state’s pressing issues and restore hope to the people.
“We cannot continue like that, Edo state deserves more than that and this election will be such that will distinguish between the good and the bad, darkness and light and that is why we are happy, Okpebholo is glad to have these other candidates as his opponents.”
On Governor Godwin Obaseki’s #70,000 wage for workers in the state he said, “The promised N70,000 from May, all these are just survivalist strategy, we are in politics, election is at hand, that is not enough because if you promise N70,000 to workers who are saying they need N200,000 of N155,000 then you have not started.
” I think he is trying to play his drum but he will end up destroying the drum, that is what I see there that is why we are telling Edo people to be careful this time around to choose wisely and I recommend for Edo people, Sen Monday Okpebholo, a man who is due for this position, who is prepared for this position who knows why he is contesting.
