The running mate of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the forthcoming Edo gubernatorial elections, Rt Hon. Dennis Idahosa has assured members of Edo in the Diaspora that the administration of Senator Monday Okphebholo will create an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
Speaking during a question and answer session with Edo Citizens in London, Rt Hon Idahosa said the APC candidate understands what the issues are and is ready and prepared to tackle them headon once he gets into office.
According to him, the current situation of unemployment in Edo State is unacceptable and unlike the present administration, the Monday Okphebholo administration will address the issue from a wholistic approach with an intent of providing a permanent solution.
Hon Dennis said, “the way we are going to create job opportunities for our teeming youths is to partner with, and create an enabling environment for private businesses to thrive. All over the world, government directly engage a small fraction of the population. The private sectors engages a huge number of the population and this can only be achieved when the enabling factors are put in place”.
“We are going to ensure that Edo state is safe and secured. We will also ensure there is stable electricity and by so doing, private individuals and foreign investors will be motivated to invest in our state and this will open up even more job opportunities for our youths”, he said
Assuring the Edo indigenes of equal representation, Rt Hon Dennis Idahosa assured them, that unlike the present administration, no area will been neglected nor given special attention because the governor is from there as the governorship candidate of the APC is committed to building a one United Edo state where the dividends of democracy is evenly distributed across the 3 senatorial districts.
Rt Hon Idahosa said, “the government of Senator Monday Okphbholo will be a government of the entire state. The way he is going to work in Edo Central is the same way he is going to work in Edo South and Edo North. We will be working in the 3 senatorial districts simultaneously”
Soliciting the support of Edo in the Diaspora, Rt Hon Dennis enjoined them to set aside political affiliations and join the progressives to move the state forward stressing that, the difference between the APC candidate and the other candidates is that the APC governorship and deputy governorship candidates are tested and trusted with several developmental projects to show even as private individuals while the others have none.
He said, “ I don’t care about your political affiliations. Whether APC, PDP or LP, as a progressives, let’s come together and move our state forward. We cannot do this alone and that is why we are here today soliciting your help. We cannot at this time be relying on promises and I will.
“We have 3 main candidates contesting in the election. While the others are making promises of what they will do if elected, the APC candidate and his Vice are showing you what they have done before now as private individuals and as members of the senate and House of Reps respectively. So, this is not the time to fall for promises. It is easy to make promises. The ones the present administration made before are yet to be fulfilled.
Dennis continued, “we are tested and trusted. We have several developmental projects executed even before we ever became government officials and we have continue to build on those projects in government. Now, we are asking for your support so we can consolidate on these developments that we have started and together, we are well assured, that Edo will be great”, he concluded.
The meeting with Edo in diaspora in London is part of the All Progressive Congress candidate’s campaign strategy to engage all Edo stakeholders across board and galvanize support for the forth coming September 2024 governorship election.
