There are strong indications that Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa has emerged (unofficially) as winner of the rerun Edo governorship primary election.
Infopowerng reports that Idahosa, popularly known as Denco, who represents Ovia Federal constituency in the House of Representatives, has unofficially won the election.
According to our source, newsmen and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) representatives are patiently waiting for the Chairman of the primary election committee, Governor Bassey Otu of cross river state at Lushville Hotel and Suites, Benin City, where the formal announcement of the result is to be made.
The formal announcement of Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa will lay to rest the high anxiety on the sensitive issue.
Reports has it that Dennis Idahosa enjoys the support of the presidency and the leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state, Sen. Adams Oshiomhole.
Though, Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa has been declared winner last Saturday by the then Chairman of the primary election committee, Sen. Hope Uzodinma, Governor of Imo, a parallel election conducted in the Benin G.R.A residence of one of the aspirants, declared Sen. Monday Okpebholo as winner.
In a different twist, Member representing Etsako federal constituency, Hon. Sunday Dekeri Anamero, in a funny manner declared himself winner of the primary election, adding more confusion to the event.
In a press statement on the 20th, February 2024, the All Progressives Congress (APC) declared the primary election that produced Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa inconclusive and fixed Thursday, February, 24 for the completion of the primary election process and later made Governor Bassey Otu as the Chairman of the committee.
Information reaching Infopowerng has it that Governor Bassey Otu of Cross River State is receiving results from Local Governnent Returning Offucers to enable the Committee make a return in no distance time.
