Greetings, readers. This observation reinforces the notion that politics is fundamentally driven by personal interests. Witnessing Henry Idahagbon’s discourse on Channels TV today, one cannot help but be dismayed by his apparent disregard for integrity, logic, and factual accuracy.
Idahagbon, who previously served under Comrade Adams Oshiomhole as Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, and later was appointed by Senator Oshiomhole as a Federal Commissioner in the Federal Civil Service Commission, has completed six years in the latter role with little to show for it beyond the advancement of his own interests and personal enrichment.
His detachment from the community in Egor has significantly contributed to the APC’s electoral setbacks in recent elections. Moreover, Idahagbon’s engagement in activities against party interests led to his expulsion from his unit, ward, and LGA—a situation only rectified by Oshiomhole’s intervention to prevent his expulsion.
The question arises: how can Idahagbon, who has failed to secure victory in his own unit or ward since the 2019 elections, continue to assert himself as an APC chieftain? This lack of results and grassroots support raises doubts about the efficacy of his political strategy.
Idahagbon’s resentment towards Oshiomhole for not endorsing his bid for the deputy governorship, with Clem Agba as his principal, has evidently soured their relationship. The irony is palpable—if endorsing Clem Agba for the 2024 Osadebe Avenue candidacy is within his rights, why should Oshiomhole’s choice of candidate be any different?
This represents a contradiction seldom witnessed in democratic processes. Idahagbon finds himself embroiled in political misadventures alongside Clem Agba, who professes allegiance to Oshiomhole. Yet, time invariably exposes all pretenses.
Indeed, as William Shakespeare insightfully remarked, one cannot discern the workings of the mind from appearances alone. Idahagbon’s recent television appearance, which can only be described as a debacle, ironically positions Obaseki as a candidate for sanctification. Oshiomhole has lived to witness the true character of his associates. Truly, the divine narrative unfolds remarkably.
