It’s been accepted worldwide across the strata of leadership & Political socialism that the right to development is an inalienable human right by virtue of which every human person and all peoples are entitled to participate in, contribute to, and enjoy economic, social, cultural and political development, in which all human rights and fundamental freedoms can be fully realized!!
Edo state since creation in 1991 has had some sort of unsustainable all-around development across the sphere. Government after government has had their tries across selected areas for developmental start up but most lacked the leadership will to actually drive developmental visions with working mission statement.
The closest to Social, infrastructural and economic development we have had in recent time came during the governorship reigns of Comrade Adams Aliyu Oshiomole. Oshiomole then had a well thought out Vision of development for Edo state and started well with it for the citizens to see and witness. Sadly, the vision was and has been truncated in the last seven years by the Governor Godwin Obaseki led administration in the state that’s again throw the state into the present pitiable state of under development.
Edo State, which is nestled between the guinea savannah and the lush rain forest belts in Nigeria, has a rich history in agriculture. It’s a ‘goldmine’ for crops like rubber, palm oil, cocoa, and cashew nuts – all cash crops that have historically boosted Nigeria’s economy is ironically today suffering from food inflation, unemployment amongst it 70% youthful Population and falls amongst the state in region with the highest Multidimensional Poverty indexes. “It’s an Irony to see the makers of beautiful mortals Pounding Yams with broken Pestles”
Indices of development begin with the development of human beings; human beings that will later develop other facets of the
society such as the economy, natural, mineral and all other resources available in the country. Hence education is of paramount importance in our state of Edo. Again the Education in the state has not had any measurable impact from the current administration.
Globalization in the close of the 21st century further attests to this reality. It is however sad that while some States in Nigeria are fast accelerating in terms of development, the same can not be said about Edo State apart from the signing of MoUs in the 7 yrs without results.
The Edo state 2024 electioneering are here again for the Edo people to Open their heart and minds in unison for the all important mental revolution movement that’s birthed on the trajectory of;
A. Astute Leadership
B. Commitment/Competence
C. Verifiable track record
D. Credibility through accountability.
It’s the time for us all to drop political Sentimentalism, demagoguery and Shinenigan. Let’s support a a young, viable cosmopolitan Hon Dennis Idahosa to provide the much needed leadership that will again realign Edo state into the track development.
You can only sell Gold to those who knows it’s worth!! Hon Dennis Idahosa is not new the workings of governance both at state and federal, both electives and as an appointee with Executive and legislative experience.
The true leadership we need at the moment to turn the developmental stories of Edo state from that of “MoU signing” Into results in Projects across infrastructure, knowledge economy, ICT, Agro-allied industrialization lies in the hands of a committed dynamic Young man that’s currently the Chairman National Assembly House of Representatives committee for Health of the federal Republic of Nigeria. An extraordinary unsung leader that’s so far since 2019 Delivered on developmental projects across his federal Constituency to the turn of about 138 Verifiable Projects.
Hon Dennis Idahosa has so far sponsored about 21bills in the green chambers of the national assembly and moved 26 motions in the four and half years.
Conclusively, Edo people should know that sustainable development is the pathway to the future we want for all. It offers a framework to generate economic growth, achieve social justice, exercise environmental stewardship and strengthen governance for all.
