We are deeply concerned about the recent actions of Hon. Benjamin Kalu. We are concerned because we have come to realise that Kalu has been using faceless groups to pollute Ohanaeze Ndigbo, the apex Igbo socio-cultural organisation, in his attempt to divide the South East region for his selfish political ambition.
This latest desperate moves by Kalu clearly explains how much he has become unpopular. He is simply trying to deflect attention from his own growing unpopularity within the Igbo nation and beyond. This simply explains that Kalu has failed to live up to the demand of leadership and his roles at the House of Representatives have been nothing short of disaster.
A couple of weeks ago, Kalu was in Imo State to fraternize with Governor Hope Uzodinma. Today, the same Kalu is using faceless groups to cast aspersions and plant mischievous allegations against Uzodinma in the media.
Kalu’s attempt to drag Governor Uzodinma into his frustration is very sad and pitiable. Uzodinma is a highly leader in the Igbo land, and his commitment to the Igbo people is highly commendable.
We also want to remind Kalu that Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo is a revered institution that has been around for a while. The body is a symbol of our unity and our identity as a people. We will not stand by and allow anyone to attack our culture and identity. Ohanaeze Ndi Igbo is a sacred institution, and its sanctity must be respected.
We urge Kalu to focus on his own job and to stop his attacks on other Igbo leaders. His attempts to manipulate and divide South East youths with faceless groups will not succeed. We are united in our opposition to his divisive politics.
We also call on the Igbo people to reject Kalu’s attempt to hit up the political environment in the region, especially at a time like this when stakeholders in the region are working effortlessly to restore peace. His absence at the recent stakeholders meeting organised by leaders of the region, should be an eye opener to all.
We must stand united against those who would seek to divide us for their own personal gain.
