Indeed, Governor Godwin Obaseki came, he saw and he conquered not in the area of infrastructural development of Edo state or total growth of the state, but totally succeeded in creating enemity between the greater part of the people that had always lived as one.
Not only did he fight his benefactor, he tried very hard to erased every trace of projects put in place by his predecessor in office. In collaboration with some power brokers in the presidency, he removed his predecessor in office as national chairman of his party, used same Presidency for the nomination of Dr. Plus Odubu as Chairman of the NDDC to be rejected
This is the same Presidency he claimed denied him from constructing or rehabilitating the bad federal roads in Edo state.
Mr Governor has never failed to use the same Presidency to get what his interest fancied.
He unceremoniously left the party that gave him the platform to be governor after causing so much division in the party right from the ward level upto the national level.
He “achieved” same feat in the party that rescued him. He silenced Dan Orbih and many other leaders of the party that had nurtured and grown the party even as an opposition for over 8 years.
Mr Governor followed suit with the traditional Institutions, particularly that of his very own senatorial district and the much respected Benin Monarch.
I wouldn’t want to duel on the much harm he has caused several families by acquiring their lands under the guise of overriding state interest.
Well, I understand that Mr Governor is at it again, but this time around, with his deputy.
“As enemies don finish for outside, now na time to bulldoze enemies within.” Lol
Its most astonishing that even while serving under his former party, members were leaving instead of joining the party, same thing is happening to his current party.
The fights and needless ones at that, have seen foundation/legacy members of both party abandoning their folds and yet, Mr Warrior Obaseki , sorry, Mr Godwin Obaseki remains undisturbed and feels his is always right.
The state resources were wasted in all this fights in the no fewer than 100 court cases Mr Governor alone instituted against his “perceived” enemies.
If all these fights were for the progress and development of the state, it would have made much sense to me.
But they are needless fights meant to distract the people from the damage been done to the state by the current administration of Governor Godwin Obaseki.
This is exactly what the people are not seeing.
They have refused to see that with the right policies and good governance, state can fight/reduce poverty, create the enabling environment for jobs to be created.
