According to multiple sources, Senator Tokunbo Abiru, who represents Lagos East Senatorial District, is expected to be nominated as a Minister by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
It is reported that Abiru will be appointed as the Minister of Finance.
Previously, Yemi Cardoso was being considered for the position, but the President has now decided to choose Abiru, who played a significant role in his campaign organization and has been a key advisor on finance and the economy.
Abiru has a background in banking, having served as the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Polaris Bank Limited.
He also has experience in government, having served as the Commissioner for Finance in Lagos State.
Abiru holds a B.Sc in Economics and is a Fellow of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and an Honorary Senior Member of The Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN).
