A 21 years old trafficked Edo sex worker, (name withheld) for security reason has raised the alarm over a threat letter from a deadly voodoo group, called ‘Ayelala’ which she was dragged to over her refusal to pay her trafficker the sum of N5m or face death before the end of 2023.

The victim was trafficked to Dubai for the purpose of sexual –exploitation arrived in Dubai in October 16th ,2021, said her trouble started when her ‘madam’ Margaret Cole resident in Manchester, insisted that she must pay the balance of N1.8 million having paid N3.2 million of the charged N5m.

She said on arrival in Dubai her co-sex workers told her that the N5milllion demanded by her ‘madam’ was outrageous and noted that trafficked girls often pay between N2m and N3 Million which was the crux of disagreement between her and the said Margaret Cole.

She alleged that her refusal to pay prompted her trafficker to summon her before a voodoo group who thereafter wrote a letter to her parents in Benin warning them of impending danger if she refused to pay.

She said a sister to the trafficker, one Abiodun Ighodalo who delivered the summon letter had been arrested by men of Ekiadolor Police station near Benin.

She however expressed shock that men of the police division instead of taking action are asking her to go and settle with her trafficker.

The trafficked victim narrated, “So far, I have paid the sum of N3.2million into Margaret Cole, Polaris bank with accounts No: 1041199420. Even this morning she sent me a voice note insisting that I must pay or face severe consequences. I started paying her from December 2022. I used to pay her between N200, 000 to N300, 000 every week.

“Initially, I was paying the money into her friend’s account before she asked me to reverse to her own personal account. Even when I was coming to Dubai she gave me $1,000 to buy things and also introduced me to his In-law called Omoruyi.

“It was when they brought the threat letter from the voodoo priest that my father arrested the sister.

But the accused, who is resident in London when contacted, denied having trafficked Omoyenwen or anybody for sexual exploitation.

“I don’t know anything about Omoyenwen being trafficked and what she is doing in Dubai. This is a girl I supported in paying her school fee. Did she not tell you about that? The issue you are talking about is currently a subject of investigation at Ekidolor police station in Benin.

“If you want to find out anything on the matter contact her brother called Osaro. Don’t call my line again please. She ended the call.
