Edo State in my opinion, has reached a critical inflection point where even “good governance” alone may no longer be enough to redeem her promise – although, we’re yet to see that from the Governor Godwin Obaseki led administration.
“In addition to good governance, we need creative, competent, broadminded and audacious leadership both at the state and local government levels to move the State in a different direction and not this tribal politics being deployed by the Governor.
“Edo State can be recreated to reflect the finest values of its people – be it Edo South, Central and North. So let’s get to work rather than hiring ethnic jingoists to promote tribalism to further divide the people.
“We need to reinvent an equitable and compassionate State where no one is victimised or left behind simply because of where they were born.
“As the Governor of Edo state, he aught to be in the vanguard for unity and not division and segregation. We must all agree in unison to turn the page on tribalism and identity politics in our Dear State”, John Mayaki, 2023.
