The Governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River, Sen. Sandy Onor, says PDP will put an end to era of empty promises that have characterised the present All Progressives Congress (APC) led government in the state.

He stated this when his campaign team met with traditional rulers in Ogoja Local Government Area of Cross River.

He said that when elected into office, he would run a transparent, accountable and responsible government that would work for the generality of all.

He said he would provide the right leadership that the people truly deserved, in addition to resuscitation of the already collapsed local government system in the state.

He further said that the people should be multivated to come out enmas to cast their votes as the use of Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) would ensure sanctity of their votes.

“We are all wallowing in pains with what the present administration have reduced the state to. We are coming to change the narrative.

“Government should be ran with a sense of responsibility, transparency and accountability and not what we have in our dear state now.

“But then, we must all come out to vote and our votes will count since the era of ballot box snatching will be eliminated with the use of BVAS,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mr Donald Duke, a former governor of the state, have said that Onor has the capacity to correct the misgovernance of the APC in Cross River.

The former Governor who said that the state has lost so much with the present administration, posited that Onor would correct the wrong when voted into office on March 11th.

He however noted that there was no way that could be achieved without the support and prayers of the tradional rulers.

According to him, “Your years of worries is coming to an end, PDP will also put an end to the era of making fathom promises that we have come to know with this present government.

“We have lost so much as a state and people, we have an undertaker that came purposely to bury the state. I am here to assure you that Sandy has the capacity to restore our lost hope.

“We however can’t continue in lamentation nor sit on the fence and do nothing about it; we must all work together to correct this wrong,” he stated.

In his remark, Sen. Jarigbe Agom-Jarigbe who isnseeling reelection, said that Gov. Ben Ayade was a mistake that they all habe regretted.

Agom-Jarigbe who represents Cross River North senatorial district, also decried the allowances of traditonal rulers in the state and subsequently announced 100 percent increased of the stipends of those from Ogoja.

The Paramount ruler of Ogoja, HRM Mathais Abua, called for a peaceful and free elections without bitterness.

Represented by Chief Buturo Abuo, Clan head of Ekumtak, he said, “We want elections without bitterness so that we all can come together to celebrate after victory.”
