2023: Public spirited person needed to restore hope to CrossRiverians, Duke

The former Governor of Cross River, Mr Donald Duke has said that a public spirited person was needed to restore hope to the people of the state.

Duke stated this on Monday when addressing traditional rulers at Obanliku Local Government Area when the Peoples Democratic Party governorship campaign team belted in the area.

While noting that he was appalled with the state of the present state Obudu Cattle Ranch, appealed to the people not to lose hope as the time for restoration was near.

Duke said that the PDP governorship candidate, Sen. Sandy Onor is a public spirited person that has all it takes to restore the lost hope.

According to him, “To hold a public office, you must be a public spirited person. Sandy is a public spirited person and that is what we need at this stage innour dear state.

“So much have been lost in the last couple of years. He knows the politics of the state. He is not a stranger, we have seen the result of a stranger.

“We need someone who can give us hope that today will be better than yesterday, Sandy is here to restore hope to the people,” he stated.

In his address, the PDP Governorship candidate promised that his government abduct Bottom-Top approach in governing the state.

While urging them to bring back PDP to the seat of power in the state, he posited that ilthe party has the experience and the people to right the wrongs of the present All Progressives Congress (APC) led administration.

“We won’t determine what you want but will seat and listen to your problem see how we will tackle them within the available resources of the state.

“My experience as a former council chairman, former commissioner and now a legislative, have prepared me enough for the mantle of leadership of Cross River.

“The present governor did not perform because he lacked the experience, he does not understand our political culture, same goes with their candidate.

Speaking on behalf of thebtraditojal rulers, the Paramount Ruler of Obanliku Local Government, Dr Amos Itim, bemoaned the present state of Obudu Cattle Ranch and said he weeps each time he visits the place.

He however said that as people that love good things, love peace and progress, they pray for a good for the state.

“Leadership is made by God and not by human beings. We know that before you made up your mind, God had already ordained the project especially when he knows you have a good heart,” he said.
