CHECK is a noun; According to the dictionary meaning, CHECK is an examination to test or ascertain accuracy, quality or satisfactory condition. In order words, it is to examine something in order to determine its accuracy, quality or condition or to detect the present state of something.

CHECK should be an integral part of our persons, personality, health, family, businesses, workplace and as well as the Authority, Government, etc.

The absence of “CHECK” in a system can collapse the entire system, whether in personality, health, family, business, authority, government and others

Nigeria as a country is blessed with numerous natural resources that some schools of thought believe that there are no natural resources on the face of the earth that cannot be found in Nigeria, others also believe that whatever we can think of to make the country great for her citizens are available. One of the major problems of the country (Nigeria) is the absence/lack of “CHECK” in the Governance policies.

Policy is regarded as a cause or principle of action adopted or proposed by an individual, organization, or Government to achieve a strategic plan for the future, Lack of CHECK in the Nigerian Government policies has put the entire Nation State to a condition of near disintegration.

Nigeria is a country that has a system of Government but has no check on its leaders, custodians of the Administration/Authority as well as political office holders.

History has it that some persons have served jail terms due to stolen or misappropriation of individual, corporate organization and Government funds in this country because there was a system provided to “CHECK” those persons. It was the examination, test of accuracy that makes it possible to determine whether the funds were stolen or misappropriated. Such “CHECK” has completely or eroded our personality, authority and the society/Government today.

If Nigerians imbibe this culture of “CHECK” as well as the Government/Authority, no individual or political office holders/custodians of Nigeria Administration, after swearing the oath of office can do whatever they like with the resources entrusted to their office and go scot-free. But what is obtainable in most cases in Nigeria is you can only be found wanting if you do not belong to the same political or ruling party.

In conclusion, Our People and indeed fellows Nigerians should agitate a call for “CHECK” as one of the conditions or criteria for every person in Authority as well as our political officer, If this is done, Our people will begin to see and experience some level of discipline among political office holders, both in ministries, departments and agencies. By so doing, the governance will surely get to the grassroots, where common citizens will benefit from the dividend of Good Governance.

By Nassamu A.A.(HND, B.Ed, CIPMD) The President, Etsako youth Nationality leaders council.
