The Vice Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, South-South, Chief Dan Orbih, has shared his view as regarding the controversial return of N122.4 million, paid into the bank accounts of some top members of the party, including himself.
When he was asked the reason why he returned his own housing allowance, because politicians don’t easily return the money paid to them, he said that, himself and the remaining five people who returned the money were committed to having a better party
He said, “I think the positive thing you will take from my own action and the action of the other five wise men is that, we are committed to having a better party and a better Nigeria and we are very satisfied with the action we have taken and I think all of us can build on that action too.”
Further talking, he said he can boldly state that, the house is he is living in presently is his personal residence, and he has been living there since 2007.
He said, “It offends good conscience to collect N28m at a time when the economy is so bad that an average Nigerian cannot afford three square meals a day. Why will I collect N28m as housing allowance, when I know I do not pay any rent whenever I am in Abuja ? It is unacceptable on my part to see what is wrong and not go against it.”
