The lawmaker representing Ovia Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, Hon Dennis Idahosa has sponsored a bill seeking to amend the Orthopaedic Hospitals Management Board Act CAP 010 LFN 2004 to create room for the establishment of a National Orthopaedic Hospital to be located in Okhunmwun, Ovia North East LGA of Edo State.
The hospital if established is to be under the management of the Orthopaedic Hospitals Management Board and will be affiliated with the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) in order to provide specialized orthopaedic treatment and medical services.
According to the lawmaker, if established the Orthopaedic Hospital, Okhunmwun would serve all the States in the South-South geopolitical zone and other neighbouring states.
This would not be the first time the lawmaker would be sponsoring such important bills that would directly affect his constituents and Nigerians in general.
