Dennis Idahosa (APC -Edo), has commended the Federal Government over the repair it carried out on the failed Ugbogui bridge along the busy Benin-Ore highway in Ovia South West Local Government Area of Edo.
The lawmaker who inspected the bridge on Sunday, said with the repairs, the federal government have averted a looming danger on that section of the highway.
Idahosa noted that he had to draw the attention of the government to the failed bridge when he moved a motion on the floor of the House of Representatives for urgent action to be taken on it.
According to him, “Haven undertaken an accessment of the bridge sometime in 2021, I felt the need for the concern authority to do some fast on it.
“I was compelled to act fast because of the deplorable state of the bridge which verberation have become a thing of concern to road users and more so that some parts have completely caved in.
“You can understand my apprehension; it is a busy route and road users where having a hard time passing through the bridge because of care being taken to navigate it. The gridlock occasion by the failed bridge was another thing to behold.
“I am happy to announced that the Federal Government has fixed the failed Ugbogui bridge along the busy Lagos-Ore highway following the motion I sponsored on the 16th, September 2021 on the need to urgently fix the failed bridge to prevent calamity.
“The Lagos-Ore-Benin highway is one of the busiest road in the country and also serves as gateway to other parts of the country.
“With work done on the bridge, it will put to end, the harrowing experience of motorists and other road users who ply the highway on a daily basis.
“I want to on behalf of my people commend the federal government for listening to us and acting promptly on the bridge.
“I promise to continue do everything in my capacity to attract more democratic dividends to my people and make life more comfortable to Nigerians in my present capacity.”
