Mr Johnson Oghuma (APC – Edo), has called on the State and Federal Governments to as a matter of urgency set up an agency or a committee on price control to regulate the astronomical rise in prices of food items and others in the country.

Oghuma who represents Etsako Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, made the call on Friday at an award presentation organised by the Coalition of Registered Political Parties (CRPP), Edo chapter.

Represented by Mr James Okoro, Oghuma who was bestowed with an award at the event, said the need to regulate the prices is to put an end to daily arbitrary increase in prices of commodities, especially food stuffs.

“It is no longer funny how Nigerians wakes up everyday to see changes in prices of commodities and this have left many frustrated and distraught.

“I feel there is need for the government to come in now by way of setting up a system where these prices can be controlled because things cannot be allowed to continue this way.

“We can no longer continue with this arbitrary increase in prices of commodities, people are dying of hardship and this needs to be checked,” he stated.

In his welcome address, Dr Samson Isibor, Edo CRPP Chairman, noted that the essence of the award is to spur the awardees to do more to the betterment of the people and the society.

He advised politicians irrespective of political divide, to eschew politics of bitterness and see the development of the society as a priority.

“We should eschew politics of bitterness. As a political parties, what is upper most in our agenda is the development of our dear state, through the dividend of democracy to our people both in urban a d rural areas.

The CRPP Chairman called on the State and Federal Government to rise up to the security challenges facing the State and Country in general.
