NBA, Benin Inaugurates “Sexual And Gender Based Violence Committee” [See Press Release]

Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Benin Branch – the Lion Bar pioneers the setting up of the Sexual and Gender Based Violence Committee in any of the Branches of the NBA any where in Nigeria.

In a Statement issue and released by the Secretary of the Lion Bar, Andrew O. Lawani, it indicated as follows:

*Terms of Reference amongst others are as follows*

*1* *To ensure the provision of effective , comprehensive and coordinated response to cases of gender based violence*

*2* *To ensure the effective prosecution of gender based violence cases in the State*

*3* *To represent the Bar in any fora involving issues of sexual and gender based violence*

*4* *To liase with the Police, Ministry of Justice and the Judiciary in ensuring the effective implementation of the VAP Law*

*5* *To raise awareness of gender based violence issues among stakeholder, survivors and members of the Public.*
