It is no more news that 28 out of 121 abducted students of the Bethel Baptist school that were kidnapped earlier this month in Kaduna have been released today after spending 2 weeks in the den of the bandits.
It was reported, that a few minutes after the news of the released student went viral, the family of friends of the student rushed to meet their children.
It was an emotional moment when the released children saw their families. They rushed to meet them with tears in their eyes.
But many parents whose children are yet to be released by the bandits keep searching with hope. A woman who can hold her pain bursts into tears, shouting “Where is my Joshua?” “What happened to him?”
It was earlier reported that the vice principal of Bethel Baptist School, Mr. Wakili Madugu, told the newsmen in Abuja that the bandits demanded food. They told the parents to pay 30 bags of rice, 20 bags of beans, and 10 kegs of palm oil as the ransom before their children would be released.
Many attempts by the newsmen to find out if a ransom was paid to the bandits before the 28th student was released proved abortive, as the parents refused to talk about it.
But Mr. Luka Biniyat, who is the public relations officer of the Southern Kaduna People’s Union (SOPAKU), made it known on his Facebook account that 50 million and motorcycles were paid to the bandits before the 28 students were released.
