This may not be the best of time politically for the People’s Democratic Party , PDP, in Edo Central Senatorial District as one of its major mobilizer, and stalwart, Chief Matthew Emiohe, has announced his resignation from active politics.
Emiohe, who seat a top of many business conglomerates was a member of the dissolved Ambrose Alli University Governing Board by Governor Godwin Obaseki, penultimate week was honoured with the prestigious title as the ‘Itohan of Esanland’ in an elaborate grand ceremony.
The octogenarian, had played a significant role in the Victory of Governor Obaseki in his Ugbegun ward in Esan Central Local Government Area of the state.
However, it was learnt that his decision to quit active politics may not be unconnected with the way and manner the government dissolved their membership board of Ambrose Alli University.
But when contacted, Emiohe, told news men that his decision to quit was purely personal and to also enable him to attend to his chain of businesses and family.
In his words, ” I cannot continue like this while my family and businesses need my attention. My brother, I have had enough of insults in politics, not at my age. Just imagine the way our board was dissolve with shame. My family and business need me. I wish the PDP and start the best”.
When asked if he may opt for the APC in future, the former politician answered in the contrary.
“APC or PDP, I’m done with politics. I just want to concentrate on my businesses. Thank you.
