NUJ Mourns Victoria Asher, Benue Council Chairperson, declares a three day national mourning

The National Secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), said it received with sadness, the sudden death of the Benue State Council Chairperson, Mrs Victoria Asher, who died this morning at the Federal Medical Centre, Makurdi, Benue State from child birth complications.

In a statement signed by the Assistant National Secretary, Midat Joseph, the National President of the NUJ, Chief Chris Isiguzo has declared a three day national mourning, starting from Monday, 1st, February 2021 in honour of the deceased.

Isiguzo advised all State Councils to suspend all activities within the period in honour of Comrade Victoria Asher.

Isiguzo said the Late Chairperson will be remembered for her dedication, hardwork and unwavering commitment to the Journalism profession.

He said “While mourning the passing away of our dear colleague, we pray for God to comfort her family, the media community as well as the Benue State Council.”
