Edo 2024: Tackling insecurity will be my priority — Idahosa

A frontline aspirant in the Edo State Governorship election, under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, (APC) Rt. Hon. Denis Idahosa has said his priority as Governor is to tackle insecurity in the State, to free the people from the menace.

Representing Ovia Federal Constituency of Edo State in the 10th national assembly, Idahosa told joumalists at the party National Secretariat, Buhari House on Friday, after submitting his nomination and declaration of Interest forms to contest the September election that he will tackle insecurity, to enable farmers go back to their farms, bringing lasting peace to the State.

He said: “Insecurity in the State will be my focus, | will do this, by collaborating with secunty agencies in the State, to enable our farmers who couldn’t go to their farms as a result of farmers, herders clash, to return.

“Also, the people of the State agreed to work with me, and we will reclaim our State to the great party, the APC,”

He also said his government will enhance the Local Government Autonomy, ensuring that monies appropriated to them will go directly, for development of the grassroots.

He promised to idolise the traditional stool, ensuring that the stools are highly respected, especially the Oba of Benin.

When asked about Bills and motions moved in the House, on behalf of his people, he said: “I moved about 31 motions and 17 Bills for my Constituency.

I moved the motion on Ovia bridge, which has been completed,” adding that, “124 constituency projects for the State were also facilitated through my representation in the House”

On the acclaimed rice palatives extended to the State, the Chairman, House Committee on Healthcare Serices, said, “I’ve not seen a grain of rice from the Federal Government.

“The award was made through the Ministry of Agriculture, and as we speak, they have not even done the bill of quantity, to know the total number of rice that would come into my constituency. So I just want you to note that one of my colleagues made a mistake and he has apologized. We don’t want to stress that issue. And I believe it’s appropriate, and when the rice get to my constituency, | will make press statement so that they can trash on this issue that has been pending for a long time.

When reminded about the annoited candidate in the state by former Govemor, Adams Oshiomhole, he stated that, “maybe, anointed by God, nobody has told me”.

“Adams Aliyu Oshimole is the leader of our party, and he’s highly respected in our state because of what he did as Governor.
