The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has told Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo to return to the Federal High Court in Abuja for an accelerated hearing in the case of certificate forgery and perjury preferred against him.
Besides, the trial Judge, Justice Ahmed Mohammed has assured of his preparedness to forfeit this Christmas holiday for the speedy and timely hearing of the case even if it has to be on a daily basis.
The PDP, through its former state chairman, Mr. Dan Orbih had embarked on a vicious political campaign against the Governor – at least to pillory him in the court of public opinion, but Mr. Obaseki would not avail himself the opportunity to clear his name.
However, there was an uneasy calm in Osadebey Avenue immediately the news from the Appeal Court filtered into the media that Governor Godwin Obaseki should have a date with the court where the cause of justice would be done.
It was reported that the Secretary to the State Government, Mr Osarodion Ogie received the news with utter disappointment suggesting that with all the efforts and investments they’ve made in the the strategic delay tactics, there was nothing left but for the governor to defend himself and clear his name.
Our source said the SSG, Mr Osarodion Ogie was seen racing to Government House with his SUV. “He’s not happy at all, he’s disappointed. He’s running to the office to possibly see what their next line of action would be”, the source disclosed.
